When I started to dream about this party (yes, I literally do dream about parties) the weather was still cold and snowy here in the Midwest, and I knew I wanted something light, bright and cheerful. So, I went with a color pallette of soft pink, yellow and blue with pops of red…reminiscent of a cupcake with a strawberry or cherry on top! Ironically the day of the photo shoot was dark and rainy, but Becky of Becky Batchelor Photography used her amazing talent and we made the best of it!
When it came to sweets I immediately contacted the enormously talented Jovanna at The CakeHole and gave her some of my ideas, and she ran with them. I think when I picked up the cake & cupcakes I actually squealed with delight. I KNOW I squealed when I saw the cookies. (More about that story later.)
Pretty cake pops by Jeanine at Sweet Peas Cake Pops & Treats, always a favorite of ours, looked even more gorgeous adorned in red bows and tiny cupcake embellishments.
We made simple yogurt parfaits by layering strawberry yogurt and whipped cream, and topping them with a homemade yellow meringue from The Cake Bake Shop.
We used our signature Party Paper (Big Dots in Lemon Drop, Candy Stripe in Pink Frosting, and Dainty Dots in Blue Taffy) thoughout the party for everything from banners, to table runners, to pretty presents and to decorate cake stand risers.
For chairs backers, I made some simple chair backers oour of cupcake liner bows. We’ll show you how to whip those up inthe next couple of days or only pennies a piece!
Our Pink Marshmallow Striped Plates, Lemon Yellow Reversible Napkins, Pink Chevron Wood Forks + Spoons, Big 36″ Balloons, Vintage-Inspired Milk Bottles (made fancier with sprinkles and wrapped in our Party Paper Ribbon in Blue Taffy Polka Dots), Paper Straws, Shimmer Gumballs, Mini Dessert Jars, Paper Poms Poms & Milk Glass Cake Stands can all be found in the SmashCake Shop.
Our “Cute as a Cupcake” models were all wearing hair accessories from the very sweet Val at Chicken Scratch’d. (Be sure to visit her Etsy shop… she’s got an adorable + eclectic mix of hair ties, clips, bracelet cuffs, necklaces, scarves, and more!)
I couldn’t resist including this last shot of Evie and her best buddy Jax (still sporting his winter hair-do.) She would take the little guy everywhere if she could so it’s no wonder he received an impromtu invitation to the party!
Perfect for a party anytime of the year, a Cute as a Cupcake themed party is easy to replicate for YOUR little cupcake, too!
